What do diagnostics include?
Laser handpiece diagnostics
We check the handpiece and how it operates with the device. The scope depends on the model and symptoms.
Identifying the cause of the fault
We locate the source of the problem and distinguish symptoms from causes. We do not assume that the laser diode module needs replacing.
Recommendations and proposed repair
We provide a verbal explanation, a written technical conclusion, recommendations and a proposed repair.
When does a diode laser need diagnostics?
Similar symptoms can have different causes. The cause can only be established by examining the specific device. We tailor the work to the model and problem; not every diagnostic assessment requires the same measurements, dismantling or calibration.
The laser will not switch on
The problem may involve the incoming power supply, connections, power supply unit or control system. A device that does not respond does not necessarily have a damaged laser module.
Handpiece not cooling
The cause may involve coolant circulation, heat dissipation, power or cooling control. In models with thermoelectric cooling, the Peltier module may also be relevant.
The laser has lost output
Reduced performance may relate to contaminated optics, the laser diode module, the power supply or a protection system limiting operation. Observing treatment results does not replace a technical assessment. Read more →
The device overheats
Restricted airflow, a dirty heat exchanger, a faulty fan or coolant circulation problems may impair heat dissipation. Operating conditions must also be considered. Read more →
Error messages appear on the display
A message may relate to temperature, flow, communication or other protective functions; the meaning of a code depends on the model. Please provide the exact code and when it appears.
No laser pulse
Possible causes include the device not being ready, an active safety interlock, a trigger signal problem, a handpiece connection or the power supply. This does not automatically mean the diode needs replacing.
How do diagnostics work?
Report the fault
Tell us the symptoms, your town or city and the model, if known. Describe the circumstances in which the problem appeared.
Agree the arrangements
We confirm the scope, diagnostic cost and service arrangements. Travel and its cost are agreed separately.
Inspect the device and handpiece
We carry out a technical assessment appropriate to the device design and reported symptoms.
Explanation and written conclusion
You receive a verbal explanation of the findings, a written technical conclusion, recommendations and a proposed repair.
Your repair decision
There is no obligation to proceed with a repair. If you commission Laser Tech Service to repair the device, diagnostics are free. Travel remains a separate charge.

Symptom: A damaged laser diode module following liquid ingress.
Cause: An incorrectly seated seal caused a loss of watertightness and liquid ingress into the module.
Result: The module and seal were replaced, restoring the assembly's seal.

Handpiece diagnostics are part of the service. If the problem only concerns the handpiece, describe it when contacting us. Whether we can check it without the device, and on what terms, is agreed individually according to the model and symptoms.
