Problem: the device works, but there is no suction

The service request concerned Beauty Planet 3D Contour from Tiamo studio in Wrocław. The device itself started, but the handpiece vacuum did not work. To the operator, the equipment appeared ready, yet one of its functions was unavailable.

This symptom could easily suggest a failed pump, vacuum module or handpiece. None of these conclusions follows automatically from a lack of suction. The first step is to establish why the system is not working.

Diagnostics: checking the handpiece circuit

We began by diagnosing the device and inspecting the handpiece's electrical circuit. We checked the power path and connections to distinguish the visible symptom from its actual cause.

We located a damaged power cable inside the handpiece cable assembly. A break in this circuit prevented the vacuum function from receiving the necessary power, even though the device as a whole switched on.

In this case, repairing the aesthetic device therefore required access to the cable, rather than replacing a component selected solely on the basis of the symptom. This diagnostic approach establishes the actual scope of work.

Repair: accessing and replacing the cable

After locating the fault, we dismantled the necessary components, accessed the cable assembly and removed the damaged cable. We then replaced the power cable, checked the connections and reassembled the device.

A small component does not mean a repair simply involves plugging in an externally accessible cable. The cable was concealed inside the assembly, so accessing it, correctly restoring the connections and reassembly were important parts of the work.

The service included device diagnostics, circuit inspection, fault localisation, dismantling, removal and replacement of the damaged cable, connection checks, reassembly and a final vacuum test.

Result: testing the vacuum after repair

After replacing the cable and reassembling the device, we tested the vacuum system. We checked suction in the handpiece: the function was working again after repair.

Simply starting the device would not have been sufficient confirmation: it also switched on before servicing. The final check therefore focused on the function reported as faulty.

A small cable, a big problem

Why can damage concealed beneath insulation be difficult to identify? We explain this in the article “Why does a small cable cause big problems?”.

We have also previously described vacuum and RF repair on a Beauty Planet 3D Contour. This is a separate case involving the same model, not the unit from Tiamo studio.
