Problem: overheating and disrupted circulation

Diagnostics revealed insufficient coolant, contaminated and yellowed tubing, and mineral deposits inside the tubes. Normal circulation was disrupted and heat removal from working components was insufficient. We did not determine the precise chemical composition of the deposits.

When a laser does not cool its handpiece and displays a warning, the entire circuit needs assessment. The message alone does not identify a single component for replacement. In this case, inspection confirmed cooling system contamination and a circulation problem.

Repair: work performed

  1. Removed the housing panels.
  2. Diagnosed the cooling system.
  3. Checked tubing and connections.
  4. Removed the old tubing.
  5. Replaced all cooling tubes included in the scope of this repair.
  6. Cleaned dust from internal components.
  7. Replaced the coolant.
  8. Checked coolant circulation.
  9. Checked cooling system operation.
  10. Reassembled the device and checked its operation.

Why does tubing replacement take time?

The Lumenis LightSheer DESIRE has a compact internal layout. Access to tubing and cooling components is restricted, so replacement requires substantial disassembly, time and care. Labour covers access, installation and checks after reassembly, not just the cost of the tubes.

Regular cooling system maintenance is significantly less expensive than a repair of this extent.

Result: circulation restored and the device returned to use

Replacing the tubing and coolant restored circulation. The cooling system operates normally, and the device passed its checks and returned to use. The client was pleased with the result and became a regular Laser Tech Service customer.

Laser servicing, refurbishment and repairs are selected according to the actual condition of the equipment. This Lumenis LightSheer repair concerned the cooling circuit rather than diode module refurbishment. Our diode laser service began by identifying the cause of the symptoms.
